Beautiful. How did you make this if you're alright with telling (what materials and techniques did you use)?

What do the letters around the sun say? (and if possible, English or Spanish translation)

I think the "soleil noir" is a bit off-center to the left.

The black sun really makes for a powerful effect.

Great work :) Very inspiring too, makes me want to keep working!

Thanks for your comment. :)
I simply made this one with black paper and white gouache. What's written in the sun is an extract from "El Destichado", a French poem by Gérard de Nerval. In spite of the Spanish title, I don't know if there's any English or Spanish translation available somewhere.

Nice and straightforward. It's quite...burzum-esque. Always felt inclined to try something like this. Awesome.

How can you calculate how many letters can there be in the circle, I have some similar work for my school projects with caligraphy and I just can't do that right!
:(

I'm sorry I don't calculate anything, for me this is not important if the circle ends in the middle of a word. That's very simple, as soon as the circle is closed, it is finished, and no matter where it ends ;)
I'm such a lazy person I know.

Somebody already said it above, but I agreed I really love how it looks like an eclipsed sun. =) The lettering around it makes a neat effect. =3

This is my favorite of the postcards.

Hey Holyrose, check this out, let me know what you think. Its not traditional calligraphy by anyone's standards, but I think my regular handwriting has an appeal to it: [link]

Well your handxriting is quite uncommon, maybe you could use it as a cursive script or something of that kind in calligraphic pieces. Anyway, it's original.

Well, I'm not very happy with my S, it's certainly due to the fact that I'm not used to using gouache instead of ink...
Anyway, thanks a lot.
